Clean Up Australia Day 2020 - Step Up to Clean Up

Gecko is coordinating Clean Up Australia Day on the Gold Coast again together with the City of Gold Coast.

Important dates for 2020

Business Clean Up  – Tuesday, 25 February

School Clean Up – Friday, 28 February

Community Clean Up – Sunday, 1 March

Last year there was over 3000 registered volunteers involved in 142 registered sites all over the City. This resulted in an estimated 3,2 tonnes of rubbish being removed from our environment.

Gecko has coordinated Clean Up Australia Day on the Gold Coast together with City of Gold Coast for over two decades. The general community, schools and businesses are encouraged to get involved before, during and after this inspirational annual event.

How to get involved during the event

1)            Register a clean up site at Clean Up Australia Day website. This can be any area you think is in need of a clean up; a neighbouring street, a park across the road from work or maybe the grassy strip along your morning walk. If you have any problems registering or choosing a site, get in touch with our Clean Up team at Gecko and we will help you.

2)           Register as a volunteer in an existing site at Clean Up Australia Day website. You can find a listing online or by giving us a call.

3)           Register a litter hotspot for us to promote as a Clean Up site. You need to provide us with an exact address and maybe even a photo and we will do the rest

Throughout the year

– Reduce, re-use, recycle and rethink the way you consume

– Dispose of your waste properly
