Gecko Walk – Dynamic Landscapes: exploring the habitats of Federation Walk Coastal Reserve Share
This is a fantastic opportunity to explore the Federation Walk Coastal Reserve with expert commentary from the Friends of Federation Walk team. Nestled within The Spit, the Gold Coast’s stunning isthmus is characterised by rolling sand dunes and coastal vegetation. This is the site of one of Australia’s largest beachfront restoration projects, restoring littoral rainforest with more than 350,000 plants across 37 hectares and protecting the region for future generations.
Our morning involves a 6km walk through the northern section and continuing south where we will hear further details about the enduring nature of this conservation program, and the work of the Friends of Federation Walk. There will also be a break midway through our walk to watch the abundant birdlife and hear their song.
We will return to the Seaway Kiosk for refreshments and further conversation. The walk is on uneven terrain, so bear that in mind if you are planning to walk with us.
NOTE: This is an over-18s event and due to the nature of the walk, pet dogs are not permitted.
