Gecko is proudly coordinating Clean Up Australia Day on the Gold Coast together with the City of Gold Coast again in 2024. This nationwide event has been embraced by the Gold Coast community for almost three decades, and we are looking to make 2024 a success again!

Important dates for 2024

Business Clean Up – Tuesday, 27 February
School Clean Up – Friday, 1 March
Community Clean Up – Sunday, 3 March

The cut-off date to register for Council rubbish collection is Sunday, 18 February. You are welcome to register a site after that as well, but you are required to dispose of your own rubbish then. Please contact us via email if you have any questions about the rubbish collection on the Gold Coast.

How to get involved on the Gold Coast:

1) Register a clean-up site at Clean Up Australia Day website. This can be any area you think requires a clean-up: a neighbouring street, a park across the road from work or maybe the grassy strip along your morning walk. If you have any problems registering or choosing a site, contact our Clean Up team at Gecko, and we will help you identify a suitable clean up site for you. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER A SITE.

2) Register as a volunteer on an existing site at the Clean Up Australia Day website. You can find a listing online or by giving us a call. CLICK HERE TO JOIN A CLEAN UP SITE.

3) Register a litter hotspot on the Gold Coast, and we will promote it for a cleanup this Clean Up Australia Day. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER A LITTER HOTSPOT.

4) Spread the word on Social Media, and don’t forget to use the hashtags #CleanUpGoldCoast and #CleanUpAustralia!

LITTER HOTSPOTS

We compile a list of litter hotspots each year. This list helps us identify problem areas and assist people in choosing a site for their registration.

Please contact our clean up team for further details and assistance.
