SUMMARY:Gecko Talks-Glimpses of Africa-25 July
DESCRIPTION:Glimpses of Africa – Gecko Talks – 25 July at Currumbin RSL\nWhen a leading local environmentalist says her trip to Africa was probably one of her best holidays ever, you can bet she’ll have a rich story to tell of the trip.\nLois Levy, founding president and Campaign Coordinator of Gecko, the Gold Coast’s peak environmental body, recently returned from a safari in Botswana which fulfilled a lifelong dream.\nHear her distinctive view on the ecology and some of the animals of that country, which she chose not only because of her research and because it’s considered politically stable—but also she’d enjoyed the movie, A United Kingdom!\nShe’ll share her Glimpses of Africa at the July Gecko Talks at Currumbin RSL—and it is free.\nAs an active environmentalist for more than three decades, Lois has honed her views on nature and how we need to live lightly in the modern world in order to preserve the environment.\nIn line with this, her discussion will touch on how people in Botswana use nature to economic advantage. She travelled most of the country, giving her an insight into the local ecology.\n‘I’m also keen to share some of the magic of being so close to a leopard we could almost touch it, to waking to water hogs eating grass outside my bedroom, or turning to see monkeys or antelope instead of brush turkeys or magpies,’ she said.\nEveryone’s welcome to enjoy this Glimpses of Africa discussion with Lois at Gecko Talks on Wednesday, July 25 at Currumbin RSL.\nThere is no charge (yes, the elephants will be restrained!)\n\nWhen: Wednesday, July 25,2018\nTime: 6:45PM for 7:00PM Start\nWhere: ‘The Cove Room’, Currumbin RSL, 165 Duringan Street, Currumbin\nCost: FREE! (Don’t forget, you can have a meal there before the talk.)\n\n\n
