On the 10th October, 2010 (10.10.10) people around the world will be taking action to raise awareness about the reality of climate change and the urgency for all governments and people to take effective action to reduce the level of greenhouse gases in the planet's atmosphere. Animal Action Day

The 4th annual Animal Action Day is on in Currumbin this weekend, October 2-3, 2010, to raise awareness, appreciation and respect for all animals and the environment. It's a free fun family event featuring performers, stalls, films, workshops, vegan food, jumping castle, face painting, animal charities, and over $5000 in raffle prizes.

The Future of Gecko Speaker Nights

September’s Guest Speaker was Professor Jean Palutikof who is involved with many national and international positions related to climate change. Volunteers needed for tree project
The availability of tree hollows as habitat is fundamental to the survival of a significant number of Australian wildlife species. The rapid growth of the Gold Coast will continue to take its toll on biodiversity. Donna Treby, a PhD student from Griffith University, is undertaking a study of tree hollows and their use by vertebrate fauna on the Gold Coast and requires the help of volunteers to assist with field work. Counting cockatoos for conservation
The ongoing success of Griffith University's initiative to instigate an annual Glossy Black Birding Day to improve information on the distribution and abundance of glossy black cockatoos was such a success that this year researchers will be extending the survey to also include the Northern Rivers region. The day is soon approaching on October 31st and the public is once more called upon to participate. Read More...
