The Events team coordinate and implement major Gecko event activities namely Clean Up Australia Day, World Environment Day, Gecko Awards and relevant minor activities. The team consists of a coordinator for the event and volunteer assistants as well as the relevant Board members.
Vision:

Goals for 2012:
- To implement a successful Clean Up Australia Day with additional sites and greater recognition of Gecko’s role.
- To implement successfully the inaugural green week and expo in celebration of World Environment Day.
- To implement an enjoyable Gecko Awards night which recognises the achievements of community members in their care of the Gold Coast environment.
- To be successful in applications for funding of future events especially World Environment Day 2013.
Resources and Methods:
The resources for the events team consist mainly of the team members, their intellectual creativity and the networks, both established and potential to market the events to the community. Other resources are the equipment and intellectual property of Gecko.
The methods include:-
- The application, in partnership with the relevant Board members, for tenders and grants to enable the events to be promoted and implemented
- The establishment of steering and action teams for each event consisting of a coordinator and volunteers which will design and drive the event. The Events coordinators are responsible for the supervision of these teams.
- Development and maintenance of networks with various community sectors.
- Monthly reports of progress with each event are provided to the Gecko Board for consideration.
- The use of all forms of media to communicate with the community and Gecko members about the event.
- Acquittal and reporting of grants received.
